3 Cong blocks challenge Valpoi MLA’s authority

Congress Block Committees from three out of the five constituencies listed by him have challenged Vishwajit for claiming to be the final authority in deciding the Assembly candidate.
Stating that Vishwajit’s actions against the interest of Congress party and undermine the party organization when the Assembly polls are around the corner, Block Congress Committees from Mayem, Bicholim and Sakhali on Monday submitted a formal complaint to Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Luizinho Faleiro against the Congress Valpoi strongman.
They called upon All India Congress Committee (AICC) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and also vice president Rahul Gandhi to take immediate cognizance of Vishwajit’s statements in support of ‘rebels who have openly ridiculed and worked against Congress’.
While GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro did not respond to the numerous calls for his comment, members of Congress Legislative Party communicated their discomfort to Vishwajit over his statements.
When contacted, Curtorim MLA and CLP spokesperson Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco stated, “I told Vishwajit that it was wrong of him to make such statements. It is high time for us to unite especially with an eye on the Assembly polls.”
Speaking to The Goan, AICC secretary Girish Chodankar said that such indiscipline should not be encouraged. “No one should be above the party,” he stressed.
On Sunday, Vishwajit had addressed a workers’ meeting in Bicholim and had declared that his “decision will be final and nobody can challenge it”.
