Dhavalikar was speaking at the concluding function of a theatre workshop organized by Antruz Ghudyo at Snehmandir, Bandora. The theme of the workshop was ‘Personality Development Through Theater Art’.
Noted stage artiste Dr Ajay Vaidya, Shreedhar Kamat Bambolkar, Sanjay Talwadkar, Arun Gaunekar and Antruz Ghudyo president Raj Kamat Bambolkar were present.
About 130 students from 13 colleges of Goa participated in the two-day workshop. Noted theatre personalities Dr Ajay Vaidhya, Sanjay Talwadkar, Avdhoot Sahkari, film actress Samiksha Dessai and others trained the participants. Later, they presented various skits on different topics.
On the occasion, Arun Gaunekar was felicitated by Dhavalikar for his contribution to theatre.
Referring to the incident of Goa Engineering College where two students were found with drugs in hostel rooms, Dhavalikar said there should be constant vigil against such illicit activities.
“Drug peddlers are involving students in these illegal activities. They target students who come from other states to learn here. Goan students get involved with them. Hence, it is the responsibility of every parent to keep a watch on their children,” Dhavalikar said.
“Definitely the police will nab the main culprit of this incident, but it is our social responsibility to make awareness on eradicating this menace. I request theatre artistes to spread awareness in colleges by presenting skits,” he added.
Speaking on personality development, Dhavalikar said, “Mere high-level education will not help develop
personality.”
