Chain worth Rs1 lakh snatched at Fatorda
MARGAO: Unidentified persons on a motorcycle snatched a mangalsutra weighing 45 grams worth Rs 1 lakh from the neck of a 63-year-old woman, a resident of Ambaji-Fatorda.
According to Margao town police, the woman, one Vaishali Komarpant, had visited a temple at Fatorda in the morning at around 7 am on July 25, and returned home an hour later. While the victim was parking her scooter, police said two unidentified persons on a black Pulsar motorcycle approached her on the pretext of inquiring about a person and in the bargain snatched her mangalsutra and fled from the site.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, two such incidents of attempted chain snatching were reported - one at Malbhat and the other at Gogol, police informed.
Man injured in accident
MARGAO: A 58-year-old man was injured in an accident that occurred while he was crossing the road near MMC.
According to Margao town police, the incident occurred on July 25, in the evening, when the victim, one Radhakrishna (58), a resident of Ana-Fonte, Margao, was crossing the road near the MMC building.
While he was in the process, he was knocked down by a bus. He suffered a fracture to his leg and was immediately admitted to Hospicio Hospital, Margao where he is undergoing treatment, informed police.
Margao town police are investigating.
