The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has demanded a thorough probe into the issue of an excise license issued to run a bar through fraudulent means in Assagao, in which a union minister's kin is involved.
Speaking to reporters at its office in Panaji on Sunday, TMC spokesperson Trajano D'Mello informed that on the social, print and national media there is a huge hue and cry over the issue as it is linked to a prominent union minister's kin.
“Further complication is that the license of running a bar is given only if you have a restaurant. But, here even before the restaurant licence was granted, the bar licence was granted. Another peculiar situation is that the renewal licence has been issued to a person already dead,” D'Mello pointed out and opined whether this could also be an issue in which a dead man's property is sold.
“There is a possibility that the property could also have been transferred through fraudulent means and there could be a similar modus operandi involved in which a dead man's property is sold. Therefore, TMC demands a thorough probe into the matter,” he added and also sought that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should come out clean on the issue.
D'Mello also criticised the presence of bouncers at the said property ever since the issue went viral on social media and other platforms.
Samil Volvoikar and Mariano Rodrigues were also present.
