South Goa BJP President Tulshidas Naik on Saturday filed his nomination for Sancoale Panchayat and appealed to the people to avoid voting for candidates who had formed a panel, after alleging that most panels were fielded by the builder lobby.
"I have been the outgoing panch and want to complete pending development works already in the pipeline but were held up due to the Covid pandemic,” Naik told reporters.
“We have laid the foundation stone for the new Panchayat Ghar, which is in my ward, three times. As of now, the panchayat office has been shifted to a new temporary location and is paying a huge amount of rent in lakhs but no one seems to be taking forward the plans of construction of the new Panchayat Ghar," said Naik.
"The ZACL is trying to sell a huge tract of land after selling its plant, but the Sancoale Panchayat is yet to receive a huge amount of dues in the form of rent, tax, etc. and we have to recover this amount.”
Naik said people must refrain from voting for people with panels or people claiming to be the longest-serving sarpanch because they have only wasted precious years and have done nothing for the people.
“These panels are like electrical panels that are powered by builders and give a shock to the people instead of illuminating their lives. A lot of panels are fielded and heavily financed by builders who want to carry out mega projects in Sancoale,” said Naik.
Naik also supported the private member resolution of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas of using the land of ZACL for housing facilities for the economically weaker section of people but maintained that the people must be Goans or residents of Sancoale and Cortalim area.
