The Power Minister further said that the department has launched Power infrastructure works to the tune of Rs 1,600 crore in almost all the 40 Assembly constituencies and is on the job to execute works amounting to Rs 1,200 crore in the coming year.

Speaking at Cuncolim after launching underground cabling project worth over Rs 40 core in the presence of Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition, Yuri Alemao, Quepem MLA Alton D’Costa and Chief Electrical Engineer Stephen Fernandes, Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas, the Power Minister said the Power department has not taken any decision to disconnect power connections because of increase in the load by households.

“Our only endevaour is that people should inform the Power department about the actual load used by the households. You need not pay any money other than fees for the three-phase connection. But, if the department comes to know of the actual load requirements of a particular household or housing society, it will help to install a new power transformer to meet the requirements and reduce fluctuations”, he said.

Complimenting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Power Minister R K Singh and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for making available the funds to tone up the power infrastructure, Dhavalikar said the department has taken up underground cabling and other power infrastructure works in all the 40 Assembly constituencies.
