MARGAO
Making his presence in South Goa for the first time after last week’s political developments, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday exuded confidence that the BJP will win all the 27 seats in the next Assembly election.
“We have started our campaign for the coming Assembly election with the launching of the membership drive. The party has set a target to take our membership to four lakh members during the current exercise,” he told the Goan after meeting with the party leaders and workers from South Goa at the district BJP office near the KTC bus stand.
“Going by the tremendous response the party has received from the workers over the decision to take the 10 Congress MLAs in the party, I can say with confidence that the BJP will retain its present tally of seats in the coming election,” he said.
The CM confirmed that the interaction with the workers was basically aimed at explaining to the workers the circumstances that have prompted the party to take the Congress MLAs in the party fold. “The interaction also gave us an opportunity to urge the workers to achieve the target of four lakh membership of the party,” Sawant added.
When asked whether the party has any plans to drop any other minister from the Cabinet, Sawant shot back, “This question is to be posed to the party president”.
