Desterro parishioners celebrate birthday of Fr Anthony

PANAJI: Parish Priest of Our Lady of Desterro Church, Vasco, Fr Anthony Rodrigues, was felicitated on his birthday by the parishioners of Desterro along with different parish associations, political leaders, municipal councillors, civil authorities, well wishers and people around the vicinity.
The thanksgiving mass was celebrated in the newly-built chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Vailankanni, Major Bunder Vasco at 7.30 am on February 11, on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
The parishioners expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Fr Anthony's work in the upliftment of the parish.
During his tenure. Fr Rodrigues contributed in the building of the infrastructure for the cultural activities for school children, besides church building renovation. His major contribution is in the construction of the new chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Vailankani. He also conducts numerous religious activities for the spiritual growth of the parishioners.
As the manager of Our Lady of Desterro High School Vasco he has taken keen interest in the discipline and security of the school children.
Hailing from the village of Canacona, Fr Rodrigues is also a poet, writer, orator, musician and a singer. He has composed several devotional songs, Konkani mandos and brought out several musical CDs. He also acts in the religious dramas performs at orchestral music and has received awards.
