Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar has said the unity and cooperation of people is vital for any development in State.
Ajgaonkar was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony during the 14th Sarvajanik Durga Utsav Samiti at Pernem on Wednesday.
Others present included Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Shradha Mashelkar, Sarpanch Bharat Gawade and members of Sarvajanik Durga Utsav Samiti Pernem.
Ajgaonkar also congratulated all those who participated in the various competitions such as group singing, mehendi, carrom, chess, cooking, etc.
Stating that development in Pernem taluka is moving at a fast pace, Ajgaonkar said that with the Mopa airport in Pernem, tourists from all over the world would step in Pernem first, before visit other places in the State.
Dr Vasudev Deshprabhu also spoke at the function.
Janardhan Kudav and Narayan Mayekar were felicitated for their contribution to the Samiti.
Later, Ajgaonkar inaugurated the Akhil Goa Abhang Gayan Sparda at Government Primary School, Shemechawadi-Pernem in the presence of ZP member Tukaram Harmalkar. Varkhand“Nagzar Sarpanch Pradip Kambli also spoke at the function, while Panch Santosh Maulankar was also present on the occasion.
