In a bid to streamline the functioning of the Margao Civic Alliance (MCA), Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai had a meeting to discuss all issues relating to the Margao Municipal Council.
The meeting assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the first ordinary meeting of the Council held last week to decide on the constitution of the panels such as the Standing Committee and the Subjects Committee, including the garbage and sanitation committee, which had generated much heat amongst the members.
Sources said the duo discussed the issue of the constitution of the committees, including the garbage committee. A number of councillors led by former Chairperson Ganashyam Shirodkar had demanded the constitution of the garbage committee and also expressed his willingness to be a member on the panel.
Sources said the duo said the statutory panels should get representation from those who have evinced interest in being members.
The duo is also believed to have reviewed the multilevel parking project pending for last five years. They are reported to have underscored the need to tender the project.
