In his reply to a question tabled by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Parrikar informed that the synchronization of the data is in the processs.
It was disclosed that the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology has completed the microfilming, scanning and digitization of birth and death records from 1914-1970 of all eleven talukas in May 2012.
"By August to September, the records will be available on digital platforms with the civil registrar and ready for use by public. Digitization is actually complete. However, the platform on which digitization was done i.e. Oracle, is not compatible with the one used by the government. Once the compatibility issue is resolved, the records will be made available to all departments and to the public," Parrikar explained.
The written reply states that the government has administratively approved the proposal of Directorate to load the digitized data on State Data Centre in co-ordination with Department of Information Technology and Goa Electronics Limited in order to provide the services on line to the citizen.
In this connection, a meeting of the officials of the Directorate with Department of Information Technology, NIC, Directorate of Archives and Archaeology, Registration Department and Goa Electronics Limited was held on June 7.
