Conception, who was still convalescing at the Hospicio hospital on Sunday morning, said that the show scheduled on July 25 will go on, notwithstanding Saturday’s attack on him by Jennifer Fernandes, wife of Tiatr Director Francis de Tuem.
He told the media that he will seek police protection during the staging of the tiatr in the future. “I will not be cowed down by such threats and assaults. I am only worried about my cast, who have also received threats,” he said, while stating that the tiatr will be held with police protection.
Asserting that he had announced before the commencement of the show that the play is not intended to harm or injure the reputation of any person or personality, Conception said if anyone had any grievance with the song or tiatr ought to have questioned me after the show. “I had told before hand that I am open for public scrutiny, but these people decided to take the law in their own hands,” he said.
Conception has disclosed plans to take both Francis de Tuem and his wife to court for the attack on him on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when The Goan contacted the Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Damu Naik for his reaction on the violent incident at the Bhavan during the staging of the Tiatr ‘Answer’, he preferred not to offer any comment on the incident.
Saturday’s attack on Conception was the second incident to occur inside the Ravindra Bhavan auditorium, the first being a couple of months ago when supporters of Mickky Pacheco had invaded the stage to confront Francis de Tuem on grounds that the actor had sung a song directed at the Nuvem MLA.
