Following a technical glitch, the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has postponed the ongoing e-auction of iron ore dumps, which was slated to commence from January 30 onwards.
As many as 125 bids have been received for 18 iron ore dumps, accounting for 5.2 million metric tonnes. The largest dump, with a total quantity of over 14 lakh metric tonnes, is located in the villages of Bandoli and Cormonem, followed by 11.7 lakh metric tonnes at Sonus Vonvoliem.
According to sources, on January 30, a total of four dumps located at Costi, Codli, and Dudal villages, with a total quantity of 74.45 lakh metric tonnes of ore, were put up for e-auction.
However, due to the technical issue, despite the e-auction, the process was halted and hence declared null and void.
On Saturday, another four dumps located at Codli and Santona were supposed to go for auction, but the same could not take place and had to be postponed.
The e-auction, which was initially scheduled for January 22, was postponed to January 30.
The dump grades vary between 45 Fe content and 50 Fe content, as per the dump profile study undertaken by the agency.
