In a cold blooded murder that has sent shockwaves, a 27-year old doctor from Bihar was found murdered in a rented apartment where he was staying at Betalbatim on Wednesday evening.
The body of deceased Nishant Bharat alias Nirvan (27 years) was found stacked inside a shelf at the bottom of a wardrobe with his hands and legs tied. As the news of the gruesome murder came to light, the Colva police swung into action and is on the look out of the cook who was reportedly staying with the deceased.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Margao, DySP Santosh Desai, who rushed to the spot after being intimated of the incident, confirmed that it is a clear case of murder.
He said the young doctor from Bihar was working in an eye hospital at Nuvem and has been staying in Betalbatim in the rented premises on the second floor of the building.
He said a team of forensic experts have been requisitioned to collect evidence and to give leads to the investigating team to nab the culprits involved in the murder. He said the Colva police will register a case of murder and will immediately start investigations into the case.
Sources said the murder reportedly came to light after the doctor did not report for duties at the eye hospital.
The police have started recording statements of people in connection with the murder. District police chief, SP Abhishek Dhani visited the apartment where the young doctor lay murdered to guide the team in the investigations.
Sources in the know informed the police are on the look out of a cook to shed light on the gruesome murder. The police suspect that the murder may be the handiwork of more than one person since the body of the deceased was found tied and inside the shelf of a wardrobe.
