A delegation led by IMA president Medha Salkar, Dr Shekar Salkar, Dr Babu Redkar, Dr Suraj Prabhudesai and others called on district police Chief Chandan Chaudhary to inquire into the progress of investigations into the assault case. The delegation demanded that the police take action to arrest the woman involved in the assault.
The SP explained that the Colva police have already arrested Ecmacleen George, the father of the accused woman under the relevant provision of the IPC and the Goa Medicare Act. As far as the accused woman is concerned, SP Chaudhary pointed out that the police is on the lookout of the accused as preliminary information revealed that she has reportedly left the country for the UAE. “I would like to assure you that the police would issue a lookout notice for the woman if she has left the country,” the SP said, assuring that instructions have been issued to the Colva police to collect all evidence and charge sheet the case in the court of law within 15 days.
The SP further assured the delegation that the Colva police would vehemently oppose the bail application of the father of the accused woman when it comes for hearing in the court.
Dr Shekar Salkar demanded that the government appoint the redressal grievances committee so that aggrieved patients approach these panels for resolution of their grievances against the doctors.
