He reminded the Judicial officers to be honest to their work, saying that people knock the doors of the Judiciary with hope and expectations.
Speaking at a farewell hosted by the Judges and staff of the district and sessions court, South on Friday evening, Judge Desmond said that life begins at 60, adding that he would work in areas which has been dear to his heart, including improving the conditions in society, work towards a better environment and work against garbage and spread human rights.
“You have to be honest to your work. Do not work for disposal of case to collect 200 points but to dispense justice to the people. You have to make people happy. People knock the doors of the judiciary with hope and expectations”, Judge Desmond added.
Giving his piece of advise to his junior colleagues, Desmond said “as judges, we have to search for the truth, when we decide cases or administrative matters. You have to work according to your conscience.”
Saying that Judiciary has been a part of his life for the last 25 years, judge Desmond said he would cherish the good times he spent in the court, even even as he thanked the staff for their dedication and commitment.
