According to PI Nolasco Raposo, after much investigation in the case, the police got a breakthrough when they got a tip-off that Chickoo was seen at Hatti in Karnataka.
“Acting on the tip-off, a police team was sent and with the help of Karnataka police, Chickoo was nabbed from a slum area at Hatti in the wee hours of Tuesday and was brought to Vasco. He was arrested and JMFC court Vasco remanded him to 14 days police custody. PSI Vikas Deikar is investigating the case,” informed PI Raposo.
It may be recalled that on December 27, 2016, a seven-member gang entered a flat at Ranghavi Estate Bogmalo and after confining the couple decamped with cash, gold and other material worth
Rs 5.25 lakh.
On January 30, 2017, Vasco Police arrested Alabaksh Kalmani (19) of Zuarinagar and on January 31, the police managed to arrest another accused, Ravi Hari Kant (24) from the slums of Zuarinagar.
Later, the police raided the residence of Chickoo and recovered the stolen cash, gold, wrist watch and mobile phones, worth
about Rs 66,000.
The police on Tuesday evening visited the flat at Ranghavi Estate along with Chickoo and inspected the site again.
The police said with the arrest of the main accused, they will arrest the remaining four accused who are
still absconding.
