Congratulating the petitioners and their lawyers for fighting a sustained battle in the courts, GFG Convenor Kennedy Afonso termed the court decision a bitter sweet victory for all Goans.
“Bitter because it left a bad taste in our mouths that the Goa Police/Crime Branch failed to carry out the basic steps of filing an FIR, before doing any investigation into the case. Its a shame that the activists and the family had to approach the courts and get an order to file an FIR 17 months after his death. So much valuable time and evidence lost in between. And, the victory is sweet because it came after a lot of struggle and finally won the case despite various hurdles,”
he added.
