Dona Leonor School marks annual day with digital twist

Dona Leonor Memorial High School, the oldest in Porvorim and a proud initiative of Fomento Educational & Charitable Society (FECS), celebrated its Annual Day with great enthusiasm and elegance. Held at the Kala Academy, the event drew cheers from parents, many of whom are alumni.

Founded by the visionary Dona Leonor Rangel Rebeiro, and now guided by FECS, the school has served the community for nearly four decades. This year’s theme, Digital Manthan, inspired a vibrant cultural showcase that explored the promises and pitfalls of the digital age.

The programme began with the Headmistress, Bhavna Naik reading the annual report and extending a warm welcome to the guests. The program was meticulously planned by Headmistress and her dedicated team, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education. The neatness, discipline, and enthusiasm of the students stood out throughout the morning.

Students performed gracefully choreographed sequences like the Robot and Digital India, and staged thought-provoking skits such as Dinner Table Disconnect, Swipe and Bites, and Screen vs Green. The performances highlighted how technology, when used mindfully, can empower rather than distract.

Vice President of FECS, Neeta Brid, delivered an engaging address filled with moral insights, while Executive Secretary of FECS, Nivedita Srivastava commended the students for their outstanding participation.

Dona Leonor Memorial High School continues to be a beacon of inclusive education, producing accomplished citizens across fields, from engineering and medicine to academia and administration. Its excellence in academics, sports, and culture remains a source of pride for FECS and Porvorim.
