Quepem Police on Wednesday evening arrested the father-in-law of late Vanita Gaonkar, who allegedly committed suicide, in connection with a dowry case.
The accused, Ganesh V Gaonkar, was arrested for allegedly demanding dowry from Vanita, who got married a year back.
Speaking to The Goan, Quepem PSI Harish Raut Dessai said Ganesh Gaonkar (48) of Deulamol-Molcarenem, Quepem, was arrested on Wednesday evening.
“He is the father-in-law of the deceased, Vanita Gaonkar, who recently committed suicide, after he allegedly demanded money from her Laadli Laxmi scheme,” said PSI Dessai.
Quepem Police has registered the crime under Section 304(B) against Ganesh Vithoba Gaonkar. PSI Harish Raut Dessai is investigating the case.
