MARGAO
Dramapur village will soon come under the scanner of the Big Brother.
For, with the village hit by garbage menace, the Dramapur gram sabha on Sunday has resolved to install CCTV surveillance cameras at a number of spots which are prone to waste dumping.
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Avita Pereira, members expressed concern over waste dumping along the roadsides, with members suggesting installation of CCTV cameras to keep the miscreants at bay.
Sarpanch Avita pointed out that the panchayat is doing its utmost best to accord topmost priority for garbage management. She, however, lamented that sanitary pads have been found disposed of at many places, wondering how waste is finding its way in the village from other villages if the local panchayats are carrying out waste management.
On this count, the sarpanch pointed out that she has been in touch with the sarpanchas of the neighbouring village to resolve the garbage menace.
The gram sabha gave its approval for the budget estimates for the financial year 2024-25.
The issue of mega housing projects also came up for discussions with the gram sabha requesting the sarpanch to take the people into confidence by placing the housing projects before the gram sabha.
