PERNEM: A 26-yr-old driver from Ratnagiri-Maharashtra died after his mini truck rammed into a junction at Patradevi in the wee hours of Friday.
According to reports, the Pernem police was alerted that a mini truck (MH-07-C 5544) had overturned along the highway at Patradevi shortly after midnight and that, the driver was trapped in the cabin.
A police team rushed to the site and extricated the body of the driver by getting a fire tender to cut open the cabin.
The deceased was identified as Jitendra Shinde, based on details from his driving licence. The body was sent to the GMC hospital for an autopsy and later handed over to relatives for final rites.
