A car driver escaped unhurt when his car rammed into a power cable drum near the power substation in Nagoa on Saturday.

The electricity department has taken up the work to lay underground power lines in Arpora-Nagoa panchayat area. As part of this project, digging work and laying of cables are in progress between the Nagoa Power Substation and the Dream Circle.

The power cable drums along the narrow but busy road have been posing a threat to motorists for the last 15 days.

Savio Travaso, a local and a member of the Road Safety Committee, has demanded the removal of the power cable drum by the roadside.

When contacted, Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar said the power cable drum near the power substation in Nagoa has become a hindrance to traffic.

“A request has been made to electricity department officials to remove the power cable drum from the site and to expedite work on the underground power line between the power sub-centre and the Dream Circle,” said Redkar.
