Drivers of KTC e-buses call off strike, join duty

MARGAO
The two-day strike called by the drivers of KTC e-buses have been called off on Saturday after a company representative came down to Goa following the strike.

KTC Chairman, MLA Ulhas Tuenkar told the media here on Saturday that the drivers have reported for duties on Saturday evening. “A representative of the company running the e-buses had come to Goa to discuss the issues with the striking drivers. We have been told that the drivers will report for duties immediately,” he said.

Tuenkar conceded that the services of the KTC e-buses were affected on Saturday morning as well after the stop gap arrangements put in place did not suffice to run the entire fleet of 50 buses.

The chairman, however, exuded confidence that the situation would return to normal from Sunday with the drivers agreeing to end their strike and join duties. The e-bus drivers had gone on strike on Friday morning, disrupting the KTC operations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at several places.
