Dug-up Ganje-Usgao road poses threat to commuters

Dug-up Ganje-Usgao road poses threat to commuters

VALPOI

Several trenches have been dug along the Usgaon-Ganje road for the laying of waterways, which has now raised the question of the safety of citizens during the monsoon.

The trenches have been dug in the last few days, which have resulted in muddy water due to heavy rains, and two-wheelers have to travel with their lives in hand.

As a result, the demand is that the work should be completed immediately and the road should be made safe for traffic.

It is learned that the traffic between Valpoi and Ponda has increased drastically in the last few months. A large number of aqueducts are being laid along the side of the road. The trench has been left dug for the last few days and the soil has been dumped along the road.

Due to this, vehicles rode on the mud road during the rains and this has created a murky layer. Now, with the rains, the roads are completely muddy, posing a serious threat to two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Demands have been made in the last few days to clear the road immediately, but have fallen on deaf ears.

In the last four days, several two-wheelers have been involved in accidents due to mudslides. If the road is not cleared before the monsoon season, it is likely to pose a major threat to commuters.

With the prevalent danger in sight, the passengers have demanded that the concerned department should pay serious attention to this and the canal should be raised immediately and made safe for road traffic.

In some places, the road has been breached and aqueducts have been laid. This has caused huge potholes on the road.

Rider and drivers are facing a dangerous situation as these pits are unpredictable in the dark of night. Drivers and citizens have demanded that the officials of the Irrigation Department should take serious note of the issue.
