Deputy Chief Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar felicitated Covid-19 warriors including doctors, nurses, house-keeping staff and security guards of Casarvarnem Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Pernem who worked tirelessly during the ongoing Covid pandemic.
Others present on the occasion included the health minister, Director of Health Services Dr Jose de Sa, Dr Borkar, ZP members Manohar Dhargalkar and Seema Khadpe, Sarpanch Santosh Malik, Tulshidas Gawas.
Ajgaonkar appreciated all frontline workers for their contribution during the Covid pandemic and said during the first wave of Covid, the government tried it’s best to tackle the Covid pandemic.
“With the cooperation and initiative of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the health minister, we have now succeeded in creating necessary facilities to tackle the third wave and mitigate the hardships caused to the people.”
The health minister in his address said in view of Covid Delta Plus cases found in the neighbouring states, people need to adopt precautionary measures such as Covid protocols.
He praised the healthcare workers in Pernem led by Health Officer Dr Damodar Narvekar who worked round the clock to serve the people of Pernem.
He said during the first and second wave of Covid pandemic, many doctors and nurses tested Covid positive but after recovery, started working again.
He urged people to get vaccinated as early as possible to ensure their safety from contracting the virus.
The health minister appealed to health workers and volunteers to conduct ward-wise vaccination drives to successfully vaccinate all people in Pernem and assured them total support of the health department in this campaign.
He also interacted with healthcare workers and told them of initiatives carried out by the State government.
