Deputy Collector Vivek Naik, Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas and other officials inspected the Kamat Riviera complex amid apprehensions about the structural integrity of the building after the retaining wall of the massive housing complex collapsed on Thursday morning.
While there have been no major signs of damage to the housing complex, government officials have told residents in the complex to be on alert.
Residents in the building said the retaining wall collapsed on Thursday morning and complaints were despatched to various authorities.
A Goa Pollution Control Board team inspected the venue and later, officials from the health, CCP and other government departments also took stock of the incident.
A resident in the area told The Goan that retaining wall may have collapsed due to discharge of sewage.
"Upon my questioning, I was told that the cause of the collapse was due to sewage discharge at four locations from this huge four-storeyed building,” said Stephen Dias.
"The collapse of the wall is a very severe issue and, in my experience, if authorities do not take precaution, the whole complex will be under threat,” said Dias.
