The Chief Electoral Officer of Goa, Sanjay Goel, IAS, held a meeting with a three-member team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to review the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state. The visiting team comprised Principal Secretary S. B. Joshi, Principal Secretary Ajoy Kumar, and Secretary Pawan Diwan.
Goel briefed the team on the steps taken to ensure smooth implementation of the SIR process, including training programmes for Returning Officers (ROs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and other officials involved in the exercise.
During the review, Joshi emphasised the need to set clear deadlines, maintain coordination, follow proper procedures, ensure quality, and avoid causing inconvenience to voters. He directed EROs to assist in digitising records for people living in remote areas and urged officials to enhance their targets. He expressed confidence that the SIR exercise would be completed in Goa without difficulties.
