EIA study for Cacora garbage treatment plant complete

Parrikar further informed that the EIA study has been submitted to the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
The state government has identified land for a garbage treatment plant at Cacora in Quepem taluka.
It is also reported that this upcoming plant will be on the lines of garbage treatment plant in Saligao.
Parrikar's reply further stated that the garbage treatment plant at Cacora will take 18 months to complete from the day of commencement of work.
Dias had also asked when the state government will come down heavily on vendors using plastic carry bags. To this, Parrikar replied, "The government held a meeting with the municipal councils/corporations on June 21, wherein it was decided to identify and establish manned collection centres on public roads to enable public to deposit the waste at such centres."
The reply further said, "The urban local bodies (ULBs) were asked to identify sites for establishing manned collection centres. In the said meeting, it was decided to have enforcement team for each ULB comprising one sanitary inspector with two officials from the police department to be exclusively deployed for monitoring and inspecting the violation and book the violators as per act and rules."
