Election call? State effects reshuffle of key officers

The State government on Wednesday effected a reshuffle of its officers shifting sixteen junior scale officers and 37 mamlatdars and joint mamlatdars.

The two separate orders transferring these bureaucrats were issued by Joint Secretary Personnel Meghana Shetgaonkar.

The reshuffle of the mamlatdars and joint-mamlatdars has been effected across the State and sources said guidelines of the Election Commission which suggest officials may not be posted in their home district and also those officers who have been serving in one region for long stints be shifted have been taken into account.

Shubham Naik, who had been awaiting posting has been transferred as Deputy Collector (Election) in North Goa district.

Six other junior scale officers who were awaiting posting -- Ganesh Bharve, Yogiraj Gosavi, Ashwini Gauns Dessai, Girish Sawant, Sitaram Sawal and Manohar Karekar -- have been posted to various positions either as chief officers of civic bodies or other bureaucratic positions in government departments.

Mamlatdars who discharge the function of executive magistrates and are the first point of contact in the administration in election and law-and-order related issues have been shifted in all the talukas of Goa.
