Emergency service van for needy in Canacona

The JanaSena Goa has launched an Emergency Service van to assist needy people during the pandemic in Canacona taluka.

The JanaSena Emergency Service van was flagged off by Shri Mallikarjun Devalaya Committee President Rajendra Dessai at the Shri Mallikarjun Temple in the presence of State level Covid-19 warriors Rama Kankonkar and Saish Aroskar, Canacona Congress Block President Prahlay Bhagat, GPCC Secretary Mahadev Dessai and others.

“This is an initiative by GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari to fight the pandemic,” said Bhagat, in the absence of Bhandari, who had to rush to the state capital to join other Congress leaders in submitting a memorandum at the Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula.

Mahadev Dessai said the Emergency Service van will provide pick and drop services for Covid tests and vaccination at the Canacona CHC or the campsite in and around Canacona, besides transportation to needy Covid patients and other emergency essential services.

He said preference would be given to senior citizens and those who have no transport facility or their own vehicle.

Others present at the function included Dayanand Phaldesai and office bearers of JanaSena.

PANAJI Goa recorded 17 more Covid deaths even as the mortality count went further up to 2727. Of the 17 deaths, 11 were recorded at GMC, three at South Goa District Hospital and three at two private hospitals in South Goa. The State also recorded a significant reduction in positivity rate with 576 i.e. 14.09% of the 4,086 samples testing positive on Friday. With 1160 recoveries, the active Covid count of the State further dropped to 9099.
