The environmental public hearing for the Advalpale-Thivim Mineral Block (V), located in Bicholim and owned by Fomento Resources Pvt Ltd, will be held on March 15.
The iron ore mining lease, for which a Letter of Intent was issued in July 2023, covers an area of 36.2202 hectares. The proposed iron ore extraction capacity permitted is 0.30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
Based on the exploration data provided in the Geological Report by the Directorate of Mines and Geology, the total mineral reserves/resources of iron ore are 3.828 million tonnes.
The public hearing will be conducted by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to address the concerns of the affected individuals. The hearing will take place at Bicholim Gymkhana, Hirabai Zantye Memorial Hall, Near Santadurga High School, Bicholim.
