Reason: For the first time ever, the election authorities have given them the EPIC cards, entitling them to cast their vote in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Transgender Nazrin, who stays near the Margao railway station, told the media on the sidelines of the National Voters Days that out of the 15 transgender in the city, the officials have made EPIC for 11 of them. “I will be voting for the first time in an election. I and my brother Hina have come here to collect our EPIC cards. We feel good that we have been given the right to vote in the election. We are indeed honoured with the officials given us the EPIC card”, Nazrin said, while saying that the transgender too will now have the right to cast their vote.

Hina too was equally excited to vote in the coming election. “We have been giving the EPIC cards. This is the first time, we will exercise our right to cote. The officials have explained us how it is our right to make the EPIC and cast our vote. Today, around 11 out of 15 transgender have received their EPIC cards”, Hina added.
