Currently, as per Prisons Department officials, if any citizen has to visit an inmate, he has to manually submit an application either to the Inspector General of Prisons or to the respective prison superintendent. Following this, if the applicant does not have any relation with the inmate, the consent of the inmate to meet the applicant is sought. The entire process takes a minimum of four to eight days.
