A second half strike from Klinsman Pereira enabled Betalbatim Sporting Club overcome Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of All Goa Our Lady of Assumpta inter village football tournament organized by Sarzora Sports Club at SAG ground, Sarzora on Monday. There was no score at lemon break.
Both the teams adopted aggressive approach and kept the crowds on their toes. Both had equal number of scoring opportunities but their forwards frittered away from close range. Betalbatim Sporting took over the reins and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids but the rival defence was alert in foiling their attacks.
Post resumption, Betalbatim Sporting showed urgency and called the shots against the rival citadel. The lone goal of the match came in the 47th minute when Klinsman Pereira's well executed free kick eluded the rival goalkeeper Dalvin. Stung by the setback, Navelim Villagers went all out in search of an equalizer but failed to penetrate the rival defence.
