PANAJI
Urban Development Minister Francis D'Souza will hear the Municipal appeal filed by former Panaji MLA Baban Naik against the final notice issued by the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) directing him to demolish his two illegally erected sheds Opposite Hotel Samrat on Dr Dada Vaidya Road in the capital city on November 13 at 4 pm.
CCP Commissioner Ajit Roy on October 17 issued a notice to Naik directing him to demolish the illegal sheds within 28 days failing which the demolition will be carried out by the CCP and the expenses recovered from Naik. The order stated that the two sheds erected by Naik are illegal and have come up in an area which is designated as open space in the approved plan.
Adv Aires Rodrigues, in his complaint, had drawn the attention of the CCP to the blatant illegality of the two illegal sheds erected by Naik and had questioned the silence of concerned officials.
On receipt of the complaint filed by Adv Rodrigues, Municipal Engineer Thomas Braganza along with CCP officials inspected the site and submitted a report that the two sheds were illegally erected by Naik. The CCP later issued a showcase notice to Naik and after hearing all the parties, issued the final demolition notice.
