Expos on partition, freedom struggle at Panaji

The Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) played host to three exhibitions at the Panaji bus stand, on Sunday, as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

The first exhibition was that of the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day which was organised in association with Department of Archives and Archaeology. The second one was on India's and Goa's freedom struggle which was organised in association with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the third one was organised by Central Bureau of Communication-Goa, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and KTCL.

At the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the exhibits portrayed the photos of the horrors that the people went through due to the partition. Photos showing how people were crammed on trains, buses and any transportation available were on display with a detailed summary of the same.

On Goa's freedom struggle, photos of different freedom fighters, including women, along with a brief on their contribution was on display.

Minister for Archives and Archeology Subash Faldessai who inaugurated the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day informed that the partition brought in misery on the people, as many were murdered, women were raped, and many became refugees.

Also present were North Goa Collector Mamu Hage, DySP Sudesh Naik, KTCL officials and others.
