The Goa Forward Party (GFP) launched yet another scathing attack on Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Tuesday, this time over the ‘nude party’ poster that has been in the news for
some days.
Even though the police appear to have gotten to the bottom of the case, this did not stop the sulking GFP from launching an all-out attack on the Calangute BJP MLA over the poster.
“It doesn’t matter if the poster was real or fake. The fact of the matter is that most of what is wrong with Goan tourism and most of the illegal activities happen in the North Goan beach belt, of which Calangute is the centre,” said GFP Vice-president Dilip Prabhudesai at a media briefing at the GFP headquarters in Panaji.
“Calangute has become synonymous with drugs, prostitution and Goa is well on the way to becoming an Indian Pattaya (in Thailand) or something of that sort,” added Prabhudesai, husband of Margao Municipal Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai who had attacked Lobo a mere ten days ago on the same activities allegedly taking place in his constituency.
Taking a further dig at Lobo, Dilip Prabhudesai said, “Such types of activities are not possible without political patronage or a godfather. The police have to expose these godfathers.”
“This nude party poster case is a wake-up call to all Goans. It is smoke, and the fire is near. We demand that the police stay transparent in their investigation and keep the people informed,” he concluded.
The GFP has not been seeing eye to eye with Lobo over the waste management plan at Sonsodo. It may be remembered that Lobo had snubbed some Saxtti MLAs, including dropped cabinet minister, the GFP’s own Vijai Sardesai, when Lobo had visited the site last week.
