The owners demanded that the government should release their monthly quota in the same month instead of forcing them to lift the commodities of the next month in the current month. They pointed out that the government decision has resulted in dumping of commodities in godowns, causing problems and losses to the owners.
Members of the All Goa Fair Price Shop Owners and Consumers Cooperative Societies Owners Association held a meeting in the city here on Sunday, wherein they have constituted a five-member panel to draft a memorandum containing their long-pending grievances. The memorandum will be submitted to the government, besides political parties, seeking its intervention to evolve a solution to their problems.
The meeting generated intense discussions over the problems faced by the fair price shops and societies, including the financial difficulties faced by its owners. Issues of rent, electricity charges, profits, stationary and bio-metric system were also discussed during the meeting.
