Farmers demand ₹30/kg support for organic cashew
Farmers from the hinterland talukas of South Goa attending a meeting at Balli to demand continuance of government support for the organic farmers project.

A meeting of farmers held in Bali on Wednesday has unanimously demanded that the government pay a price difference of Rs. 30 per kg to the organic cashew farmers in Goa and continue supporting the organic farmer's project.

The meeting was attended by former Minister and President of Adarsh Krishi Sanstha Prakash Velip, besides other directors.

Prakash Velip has informed that thousands of farmers from Sanguem, Quepem, Canacona, besides Dharbandoda talukas were present in large numbers.

He said the entire organic project of the organisation was reviewed at the meeting, as he sought the cooperation of all farmers to continue the project.

Vice President Satish Velip welcomed the farmers and Prashant Velip thanked them. On this occasion, all the farmers expressed their support to Adarsh Krishi Sanstha and Prakash Shankar Velip.

The meeting assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the letter received by Adarsh Krishi Sanstha from Achal industries, Mangalaru conveying its decision to the latter that the industry will not procure cashew nuts from the Adarsh Sansthan from the next season.
