Fatal mishap at Mungul bridge claims life of Cansaulim local

A head-on collision between two two-wheelers at the Mungul bridge resulted in the death of a 39-year-old scooter rider, Agnelo Nester Fernandes, a resident of Cansaulim on Monday evening.

Fatorda Police station in-charge, PI Ditendra Naik informed that the deceased was proceeding towards Colva side from the old market circle. When he reached the Mungul bridge near the Our Lady Chapel, the scooter had a head-on collision with an oncoming motorcycle, which was proceeding towards the Margao side from Colva.

The motorcycle rider Sachin Sinde, a resident of Kesarlem Tisk Usgao and a native of Belgaum-Karnataka, and the pillion rider Babu Patil, a resident of Bicholim and a native of Belgaum also sustained injuries in the accident.

The police informed that the deceased was rushed to the South Goa district hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The Fatorda police is investigating.
