Do you have any idea to offer on the design of the proposed entrance gate to Fatorda? If yes, then send your suggestions to the consultant Ankit Prabhudesai engaged by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) to plan the design of the Fatorda entrance gate, whose construction is likely to cost a whopping Rs 2 crore.
In fact, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai told the media on Thursday that interested citizens will be given 15 days time to offer their suggestions to the consultant to bring out the best design. “We have already told the consultant to work out the design, but we want to ensure that the design is not dumped on the people. Let the citizens come out with their ideas which can be incorporated with the overall design of the entrance gate to Fatorda,” he said.
The TCP Minister said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had sanctioned Rs 2 crore to put the entrance gate in place at Fatorda, adding that with Fatorda in the process of getting its own Municipal Council, the entrance gate should be in conformity to the heritage of the place.
Sardesai pointed out that the SGPDA has also followed similar guidelines in the formulation of the Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Margao, Fatorda and Ponda. “For the first time, the SGPDA has carried out the exercise of land use map and land use register to ensure that all the development on the ground is reflected on the ODP. But, we have gone a step forward and have kept the land use map and register for public suggestions and objections,” the TCP Minister said, adding that ‘only after the process of inviting suggestions and objections is over, the further process of formulating the ODP for Margao, Fatorda and Ponda will be taken up by the SGPDA’.
He also said that all these exercises are aimed at ensuring there’s maximum participation of the people in these planning processes.
Incidentally, city-based builder and film maker Rajendra Talak had in 2016 mooted a gantry at the entrance to the commercial capital, but the proposal was objected by Sardesai on grounds that the gantry will be an eyesore near the district Collectorate building.
