Fatorda police on Tuesday evening rushed to the Housing Board area following a report that two groups were involved in a scuffle in a public place and one of the parties removed a knife.
The police later registered a case under Section 160 of the IPC against the two groups for breach of peace in the Housing Board area.
Fatorda Police station in-charge, PI Ditendra Naik informed that there was no group fight in the area, but a scuffle over the use of bad words. He said one of the parties was travelling on the road with his wife when a person used bad words at him and his wife.
All hell broke loose and a scuffle ensued after the kith and kin of the assaulted person rushed to the spot. PI Naik said the knife was not used to assault anyone.
He said the police has registered an offence against both the party for disturbing the peace in the locality.
