Secretary General of the Bishops’ Conference of India and Bishop of Ranchi, Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas will preside over the concelebrated feast mass of Holy Spirit Church, Margao on May 15 at 9.30 am.
The feast will coincide with the closing of the year-long celebration of 450 years of Holy Spirit Parish. The parish is organising a parishioners’ evening from 5.30 pm on the Church ground.
Holy Spirit parish priest, Fr Avinash Rebello said the religious function in Thanksgiving to God will be in the morning with masses at 5, 6, 7, 8.15, 9.30 (feast mass) and 11.45 am (English).
There will be a small fair with variety of games stalls, food stalls having authentic Goan festive menu, snacks, sweets, bhelpuri and soft drinks at very reasonable rates. The stalls will be put up by the parish wards and associations of the Church.
Parishioners from self help groups will display in a small scale their home made pickles, papads, handicrafts items such as needle work, crochet work, etc, for sale.
“Margao is now for its various cultural groups. They will entertain the gathering with music and songs in Konkani, Portuguese and English,” Fr Avinash said, adding that the parishioners’ evening will offer opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new acquaintances and deepen parish relationships.
