He was speaking at Socorro at a programme organised by Porvorim Yuva Welfare Trust to felicitate students who excelled in the SSC and XIIth examins of Goa Board. Students who scored over 75% marks in the 10th and 12th board exams were honoured at this programme.
“Parents should unearth the hidden talents in their children and encourage them to pursue the career of their choice. The students should acquire higher education and contribute to build a better and modern India,” said Khaunte.
Director of Education Shailesh Zingade said students should not limit their knowledge to textbooks, but also focus on improving their general knowledge.
“The decline in reading habit among students is not a good sign. Parents and students should encourage students to read extensively to further enhance their knowledge,” said Zingade.
State Co-Ordinator of Goa Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan John Silveira highlighted the importance of skill-based education. He mentioned that through the incorporation of the New Educational Policy, academic and intellectual progress of students will receive proper attention.
He expressed that if students maintain consistency, dedication and honesty in their studies, success will come their way.
