Ahead of the famous Zambaulim Gulal which will be celebrated this year on April 2 at Zambaulim-Quepem, the Margao-based Hindu Mathagramastha Sabha on Thursday carried the sacred coconut from the Sal Temple, Comba to Zambaulim.
The carrying of the sacred coconut in a motorcade from Margao to Zambaulim on Thursday after religious programmes marked the commencement of the host of programmes, which will culminate in the celebrations of Dambab Gulal at the Zambaulim temple on April 2.
President of Hindu Mathagramastha Sabha, Bhai Naik informed the media that a host of religious and cultural programmes have been chalked out on the three days leading to the Gulal on April 2.
“On the eve of the Dambab Gulal at Zamabulim on Monday, a mixed Lawni orchestra from Kholapur and Mumbai will perform at Zambaulim. Earlier in the day, a fancy dress and dance competition will be held at the venue,” he said.
Saying that the Dambab Gulal will be celebrated on Tuesday at 3.30 pm at Zambaulim, Bhai Naik appealed to the devotees of Lord Dambab to use only Gulal at the festival.
