Madgavkars from all walks of life bid adieu to MMC councillor Ashlesha Naik as her mortal remains were consigned to flames at the Pajifond crematorium on Monday noon.


Madgavkars pay rich tributes to Ashlesha

Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva, Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik, former MLA Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Margao Municipal Council councillors and a cross section of citizens paid their last respects to her.
After Ashlesha’s body was brought to her residence at Vidhyanagar-Aquem in the morning,  hundreds of people from all walks of life, including MMC staff and employees, visited her residence to pay their respects.
Meanwhile, the Margao Block Congress Committee has offered its tributes. Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said Ashlesha had tried to save somebody without thinking of herself, which is commendable. The tragic death of the young lady is therefore an example to others and will be remembered forever, Kamat said. MMC Vice-chairperson Doris Texeira, councillors Avinash Shirodkar, Jaffer Sheik, Sharad Prabhudesai, Margao Block president Gopal Naik also spoke on the occasion. Congress members were also in attendance.
