Vasco police on Thursday arrested a 34-year-old man from Headland Sada on charges of rape and threatening the victim with dire consequences.
According to Vasco police, the victim has stated in her complaint on Thursday morning that Parshuram Waman Mattkar had allegedly raped her between 2003 and 2015 after assuring to marry her.
The victim added that Mattkar had avoided since 2015, when she tried to persuade Mattkar to get marry her.
Mattkar's family members then began threatening her with dire consequences if she did not stop pressurising Mattakar to get married to her.
Acting on the complaint which was filed, police arrested Mattakar under Sections 376, 493, 504 and 506 (ii) and Vasco PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar is investigating the case.
