The final rites of a woman and her minor son who died in road mishap on Thursday were performed at a crematorium in Saligao on Friday.
Sima Pernekar (37) and her son Sidharth (5) were being taken by Sima’s father-in-law to Mapusa on a two-wheeler, when they were knocked down by a truck outside the KTC bus stand.
Both died on the spot, while Sima’s father-in-law, Bhanudas, was injured and was moved to the North Goa District hospital, before being discharged on Friday.
The truck driver, who was arrested by Police, has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody. The truck involved in the road mishap is owned by a company engaged in laying a sewage line in Mapusa.
