Panchayats Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Thursday convened a special meeting at the Airport Authority of India (AAI) office to resolve parking issues at Dabolim airport.
Heads of various departments from South Goa collectorate, Navy, CISF, traffic, GSIDC and airport authorities were engaged in discussions at the AAI office.
The delegation later also conducted a site inspection to assess the land available for parking of various taxi associations, including Goa Miles, Black Yellow and Taj Tours rent a cab cars. Space to park coaches arriving to collect/drop tourists arriving by chartered flights were also discussed.
Later speaking to reporters, Godinho said the meeting was a follow-up to the previous airport advisory meeting, where it was decided to put an end to parking issues at the airport once and for all.
Godinho said the black-yellow taxis and chartered buses encountered the major problem of parking at the airport.
“The issues were resolved with positive participation of all concerned. GSIDC officials were also invited to the meeting because work on the grade separator had to be expedited,” Godinho said.
Meanwhile, navy officials, who were part of the meeting, on being questioned on the issue of construction in the funnel zone, clarified that for any construction in the funnel zone, the applicant should intimate the Navy for NOC through the proper channel and NOC would be issued to them without delay.
Navy also said all demarcation of plans with height for construction was available with the navy. Officials also said though the naval area is spread to a 20-kms radius,
the critical zones were the funnel zones on both sides of the runway.
